PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING/POSTING

GENERAL RULES

GENERAL

Read the rules. Administration will be able to tell if you haven’t read through all the rules. There aren’t many of them so it won’t take you too long.

This forum is strictly a PG13+ site and persons wishing to RPG on Wizard Domain MUST be at least 13 years old to register. All members must comply to the higher rated sections of the board.

All content that is not copyright J.K Rowling (disclaimer is found at the top of the WD's Home Page) are copyright to Wizard Domain. Prior permission is needed to claim, use, reproduce, copy or redistribute Wizard Domain property.

HIGHER CLASSIFICATION

All members RPing above the PG13 standard MUST BE OVER THE AGE OF 17 YEARS!

All THREADS that are rated higher than PG13 (i.e. M classification) must have a warning message in the 'Subject' heading. Eg. Subject: (M) Title of Subject

M. Titles in this category may contain violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

This means that you can still write about low key violence, blood, gore, sexual content and strong language in the general board.

There are two types of higher classification: MA, NC17. Read the following classifications which are ONLY for the restricted section of the board and apply them to your thread/posts (PM Moderators/Admin to join group).

MA. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

NC17. Titles in this category may include hardcore pornography. DO NOT READ A THREAD/POST WITH THIS CLASSIFICATION UNLESS YOU ARE 17 AND OVER!

All members under the age of 17 who read threads of higher classification do at their own peril. Wizard Domain will not be held responsible for the consequences.

Do not post content of an explicit nature in a PG thread. Members must only post M rated content in a clearly marked THREAD (marked M only) OR post in the restricted section of the board (PM Moderators/Admin to join group).

REGISTRATION

Maximum of 3 accounts can be created for any one person. Special exceptions can be made to members who have been with Wizard Domain for a certain period of time and have proved their 'forum-abilities.' Wizard Domain expects all accounts to be active and regularly participating in the forum.

Remember to register with a non-celebrity name. Canon characters need to be applied for in the Applications and Registrations forum.

COURTESY

Respect is our motto and we expect all members to comply with it. Be friendly and caring and members will be friendly and caring back.

No swearing, sexual references or any other form of offensive content is to be posted, emailed or PM’d. PG13+ swearing and sexual references are permitted. Political, religious or pornographic content is strictly forbidden. This keeps our forum friendly and safe.

No spamming in any RPG forums or signatures, no exceptions. If you wish to advertise your website or any other rule-complying links a forum has been provided in the OOC section for you to do so.

APPLICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

Character sheets need to be completed for the benefit of the Administration and other members.
Talents, wands, brooms, pets, blood status, houses, quidditch and school positions need to be applied/registered for. Wands, blood status and houses are a REQUIREMENT, you must apply/register for these features before posting.
Canon character are not required to apply or register items or talents etc. that are noted in the novels.

AFFILIATION/ADVERTISING

If you wish to affiliate your site on Wizard Domain you must head to the OOC area and register you affiliation applications. AFTER and only after Athena (that's me) has replied to your applications via PM or reply post are you allowed to add WD's code to your site and vice-versa (and yes, you will have to add WD's code to your site and yes I do check on my affiliates regularly. If you take my code down I take yours down).
DO NOT ADVERTISE! You can advertise, appropriately, in the Affiliation forum in the OOC section.

SIGNATURES/AVATARS

Signatures can be up to 500x400.

Avatars can be up to 150x200 but I wouldn't advise you going that big anyway.

Signatures cannot link to any site outside of Wizard Domain. This prevents unnecessary advertising, spamming, download time and any annoying links. Advertising/affiliation of a website can be done through the OOC section.

ROLE PLAYING RULES

GENERAL

Always be polite OOC (out-of-character). Swearing and adult themes are permitted if they comply with the 'Higher Classification' rules found in the 'General Rules' section.

Remember to tag OOC remarks clearly. Eg: OOC: Do you want to continue with this thread? /OOC

Keep OOC posting in the RP threads to a minimum. Use either the OOC threads (down at the bottom of the home page) to communicate with members or PMs/Emails.

Each member is restricted to 3 characters. Special permission can be applied for if members can prove that they are handling all their characters and posting regularly with each.

The administrator has the last say. But don't worry I'm fair.

POSTING

Role playing can be in either 1st person, eg: "I left the station at 2 o'clock." OR 3rd person, eg: "George left the station at 2 o'clock." 2nd person is not aloud.

No godmoding.Godmoding is when one character controls another characters actions. This is forbidden and will result in one warning then banishment for six months.

NPC characters or non-playing-characters (characters that are not controlled by a member) are allowed but no more than two NPC's per member in each thread.

There must be a minimum of 100-150 words per post. We don't want replied that consist of "She was shocked at his gross socks."

Do not post actions using '*'. Do not use 'IM' speak or Leetspeak (L337) or any other variation. Use only English.

Do not use other members posts or posts from other sites without rewording first. Do not plagiarise.

CHARACTERS

Mary Sue characters are forbidden. Mary Sue characters are characters that are perfect.

17 year old characters cannot perform magic outside of Hogwarts this includes apparition. Students will learn to apparate this at school.

Students cannot leave school with the exception of Christmas and Summer holidays.

The year levels of each individual student will be determined by the number of classes they attend. Miss a class and your characters grade will lower and your chance of going to the next year level becomes slimmer. Professors and heads of houses will determine each students year level at the end of each school 'year'.

Characters must comply with the magic and talent rules specified in the 'Mandatory Reading' section.

Magical abilities includes the following: Animagi transformation, Metamorphmagi, Parselmouths, Flying (without a broom or carpet), Seers, Legilimency, Occlumency, wandless magic, wordless magic, Veela charm (part-veela), Giant (part-giant), Vampirism (part-vampire) and Werwolf transformation.

All of the above magical abilities MUST BE APPLIED FOR IN THE TALENT APPLICATION THREAD.

NOTE that Apparition and Disapparition are not listed as magical abilities. This is because all students will acquire this magical ability at the age of 17. Adults automatically have this skill. Just remember that you must pass your apparition test. Your common rooms will have posted the times when the apparition tests will commence. Miss them and you must either come back to school the following year to complete your apparition test (you will be sent an owl) or you must go to the Ministry of Magic Level 6: Department of Magical Transport, the Apparation Test Center.

MAGIC RULES

SPELLS

This is a complete list of the spells used in the novels. Restrictions apply to some spells.

Each member will be required to use their own discretion when using spells. Here are a few pointers to keep you on track:

Remember the age of your character and what limitations that places on their ability to perform spells.

I do not want to see a first year performing seventh year spells. If you desperately need to do something drastic like that you must PM a moderator or the administrator for permission.

The staff recognise that some students will be 'smarter' than others and will gain skills quicker but remember not to have a Mary Sue character. No-one likes a know-it-all.

Dark magic is forbidden unless you are a Dark Wizard, Death Eater (both need to be applied for) or have asked and been granted permission to use dark magic. We don't want third years running around screaming 'CRUCIO!'

This list of Do's and Do-not's may be revised so keep an eye on the announcement board to see any updates.

DUELLING

Student duelling is forbidden at Hogwarts but 'illegal' duelling is permitted by moderators and the administrator, just remember that if a Professor or Prefect catches you punishment will be applied at their own discretion.

Adult duelling is allowed by moderators and the administrator but again punishments (IC, in-character) will apply to characters being caught duelling illegally by the Ministry of Magic (any Ministry employee has the ability to arrest any witch or wizard participating or associating with illegal duelling). Illegal being without the official permission of the Ministry of Magic.
